It is always a safe bet to stick to one brand of skin care – False.

It is absolutely fine to mix various brands together. However, you need to take care that it doesn’t have common characteristics or overlap with each other. For instance, you have two products with BHA [beta hydroxyl acids] properties, even if one promises something else, it is a waste of cash as you require just one. On the other hand, if your skin breaks out it will be difficult for you to find out the cause as you are using more than one brand.

Too much of coffee can make the skin break-out – False.

Nothing you drink or eat can possibly cause acne. Caffeine can be had, but it is advisable to limit it to one or two cups. The reason being, the more cups you have the more your nerves will start acting up. This in turn will add to the overall stress level which results in unfavorable reaction to the skin.

Exposure to the sun is always bad – False.

The sun offers vitamin D which helps to toughen bones and teeth and aids in calcium absorption. In fact, getting out in the sun for few minutes is good for you. But, never step out without any protection. Use a sunscreen for as long as you are out in the sun.

Whitening products are just a eye wash – False.

Melanin is the pigment in our skin which is produced by specialized skin cells called melanocytes. Whitening agents like kojic acid or hydroquinone powder, decrease production by making one appear fairer. Hence whitening products work!

Small amount of rashes after a facial is perfectly fine – False.

Rashes are got only when the products do not suit the skin. Check with your beautician and find out what she is using. If she says that it is completely normal and there is nothing to worry about, then it’s best to replace her.
