Do not follow fads blindly. It’s up to you to take care of your skin. When in doubt, make a small research or heed the experts. Having said that, here are few tips on what you need to be careful about.

o Chemical Peels, photo facials, microdermabrasion laser hair removal etc are technology based procedures that is related to cosmetic or medical issues. Do not take them carelessly as feel-good treatments. Remember, if they are not handled well they do more harm than good. Check if the therapist is well -qualified or experienced enough before you settle on a skin treatment.

o Massages scrubs, facials, etc have a soothing effect as they are quite relaxing and comforting. But, assure the saloon or the parlor you visit is high on hygiene. Again, if mishandled they do more harm than good. To be on the safer side, get a patch test done to know if you are allergic to any products.

o Manicures and pedicures should be done with utmost care. Look for parlors that uses neat, sterilized equipments. If you find that the place is unkempt or the equipments are not clean enough, just leave. You can also carry your own kit to avoid possible fungal infections.

o Avoid harsh face scrubs. Make sure you scrub just once a week and for not more than five to ten seconds. Too much friction can damage the skin. While bathing, avoid too much scrubs, pumice stones or brushes on your body as well. However, the heels or soles can be cleaned with scrubs and pumice stones as they are capable of taking pressure.

Know how much sleep you require. Start going to bed eight hours before you need to wake up. Remember, if you still require an alarm to wake up after eight hours, it means you need more sleep.

Hence, go to sleep an extra thirty minutes for the next couple of days. You need to keep adding fifteen to thirty minutes to your sleep schedule until you wake up without the help of an alarm.

Once you’ve understood your bedtime, make it a point to go to bed and wake up at the same time and that includes weekends as well.
The best kind of sleep is a non -stop, peaceful one. A continuous five hour sleep is much better than eight hours of broken catnap.
In case you have lost certain hours of sleep a night, do not compensate it by sleeping all at once. You tend to become more sleepier the following days. Try to sleep a few hours extra for a few days by going to bed early rather than changing the time you generally wake up.
